Liye Xiao has 30 years of experiences in the large-scale application of superconductor. He is a research fellow at the Institute of Electrical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IEE-CAS), and also a Professor of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. During 2007-2017, he acted as the director of IEE-CAS and the director of Applied Superconductivity Laboratory-IEE now he is the director of Applied Superconductivity Laboratory, and the chair of Beijing Society of Electrical Engineering. He leaded the R&D and demonstration of a 10kV Superconducting Power Substation which includes superconducting cable, SMES, SFCL and superconducting power transformer, and he also lead a project to develop and demonstrate a 360m/10kA HTS DC power cable for an Aluminum Electrolyses. He published more than 200 papers in refereed journals and a book in Smart Grid.
