Holger Neumann works at the Institute for Technical Pyhsics (ITEP) at the Karlsruher Institute of Technology (KIT), where he lead the cryogenics department since 2003. He has a guest professorship at the Zhejiang University in Hangzhou (China) where he gives lectures in cryogenics. As well he gives lectures in cryonics and thermodynamics at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW). In addition, he organizes and gives seminars on cryogenics and refrigeration technology for the association of German engineers (VDI), house of technique Essen (hdt) and the DKV. Actually, he is president of the German Society of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (DKV) and board member of the ICEC and CEC.

His research topics are thermal insulation of cryostat systems and cryogenic cycles/cooling methods for superconductive applications down to 1.8 K.
